Bachkovo Monastery near Asenovgrad keeps part of Christ’s cross

Bulgaria’s second largest monastery – Bachkovo Monastery – is situated in the valley of the Chaya river, about 10 km south of the town of Asenovgrad. The monastery keeps a 10 cm part of Jesus Christ’s cross and a wonder making icon of Holy Virgin, which is believed to heal sick people, Bachkovo Monastery’s tourist guide Stamen Pepelishev told Focus – Veliko Tarnovo Radio.
